The most sorrowful expression on the criticism of the video films with archeological themes prepared by us is the following: "You are only speaking of the ancient times. Is it of any interest?” And that`s why that "ancient” is sometimes concealed by the veil of indifference. However these stones, having the history of 7000 years, are a unique vehicle in time and space, which, by the way, give an opportunity to recognize yourself as an individual. All the human progressive achievements are directed to it and the recalled knowledge has the value of newly acquired knowledge.
The film, we have shot, is about stone monuments, dragon-stones, boulders with rock-images, battering-rams of Armenian ancient civilization, located in different parts of Yerevan city without of any systematization. In 1953 Pavel Safyan brought rock-images from Uxtasar to Yerevan in order to build a museum under open air. During the years this wish hasn`t been realized and till now the boulders lie in "the Garden of the dragons». Nothing was spoken about the rock-images in the noise made by the media, only the problem of the garbage disposal was emphasized and slightly was hinted at dragon-stones and battering-rams.Later, it turned out that the territory of the garden had been privatized for a long time. The fate of the stones is in danger, they often serve as building materials. We presented the shot material to the mayor of Yerevan, who decided to return the territory to the garden after several months and to allot another place to the owner.
We, together with Grigor Vahanyan, who is the commissioner of the European Council "Democracy due to Right”, European committee (Committee of Venice), the candidate of technical of sciences, Doctor of economic sciences, the member of International archeological centre, the head of the scientific-educational programme "Qaredaran”, the specialist of rock-images, presented an application to municipality of Yerevan , to get permission to investigate and present a programme of monument allocation referring to the Armenian ancient culture in Yerevan, the programmme includes the investigation of auxiliary questions connected with it, projection, as well as exhibition. This little film puts a beginning to all these works.
